Now demanding an extra E138,000 or so and threatening to sell my house, all this in addition to about E40,000 they were already paid to amateurishly defend me against a builder who overcharged me by some E65,000 and took me to court. Add to that a total of some E92,000 already paid for "experts" (the main one S F Hughes's brother-in-law), barristers and arbitrator and it adds up to some E270,000 spent (and over 14 years wasted) to defend me against an initial claim of about E65,000 which in theory I won. Only VERY rich people who don't mind getting a whole a lot poorer can afford this kind of service. The original solicitor from hell, in my opinion! |

When did Seamus's family disown the so called relative who posted on the 4th of Sept. The Hughes family have and continue to make an enormous contribution to business, social and community life in Westport area. Why would above relative have any contact if he truly was a genuine poster? See posts of 21 and 24 April from same relative. This family member can categorically state that the firm of Seamus Hughes & Co continues to excellently represent progressive Hughes firms and thankfully confirm that they have no Dutch relative called Stoffel Vogelaar who appears to have come out of hibernation since April. Get a life you miserable poster have the courage to identify yourself. As you defame a good man he continues to expand his practice of 30 years and give gainful employment. |

Not only does this man abuse his power in the large county of Mayo, he abuses his family. This however is common knowledge that he refuses to accept. He believes the public view him as a standing figure in the community when however the opposite is very much the case! He bullies his wife to the point of fear for her safety. He is materially obsessed and bullies not only his wife but his clients. Those clients that Mr. Hughes does not bully are the ones with whom he is actively involved in corruption. I will keep their names withdrawn for now. I feel very sorry for his staff. Has any reader of this site noticed the high turnover of his secretaries? |

In respect of entry 24/02/2006 this firm through persistence WON the case after 17 days at arbitration, 2 high and 1 supreme cases, costs were taxed by the Taxing Master - nobody likes to have to pay their costs but a person is entitled to be paid and all retained experts for expertise. |

In an ample divorce case I had to pay large sums to accountant, valuers, barrister, but Seamus Hughes was most considerate considering the amount of time he devoted and as a result is now a precedent case involving the principle of a second bite of the "cherry". RG versus CG 2005 High Court. |

We have been reliably informed that the positive ratings by "Chris" and "Fowler" are definitely false and have been deleted, while the other glowing entries for 21 April 2006 are dubious, but have been given the benefit of the doubt. Please note that Chris Fowler is in fact the contact person for the Society of Victims of Seamus Hughes. He tells us to look out in the near future for his new improved website with sensational new discoveries about the practices of this controversial firm. The VLPS deplores the use of false ratings and will intensify its vigilance. We are surprised that Mr Hughes has to resort to this underhand method. As an ex FF TD he should be well used to criticism from the public and adjust his attitude accordingly. |

Referring to the positive comments of 7-5-06 by "Cathy", she apparently forgot to mention in her enthousiasm that she is in fact Seamus Hughes' sister. She was married to Ronnie Greene (RG). It is a bit disappointing that Seamus did not act for her for free, but of course every bit of money is always warmly welcomed by this ever-greedy firm. Well, the writer of the comment of the 20th got one thing right, "Ex-clients always have a grudge" against S.F. Hughes and with good reason!! If said writer could get his nose out long enough to see daylight, he would discover that, at least according to the Supreme Court, Mr Vogelaar WON his case, only for Mr Hughes to pocket the entire amount of the Judgment! As everyone in the town of Westport knows, Mr Hughes is a gangster of the highest order who abuses his employees and treats his clients like prey. The fact that he is State Solicitor means that he can and does use the Gardai as his own personal "heavies". The Mafia could learn a thing or two from this man! |

Victim's relative is sadly a deluded person. As a former grateful employee, the suggestion that this firm was anything other than excellent employers is a load of codswallop. In fact I offered my services to my ex-boss to help discover who was the despicable individual who set up a web site of a defamatory nature and meet a suspect on several occasions in a hotel in Westport, everything was recorded. Be assured that I and all other former employees are a happy bunch unlike the known despicable suspect. A wonderful place to work. |

Well it seems all the worms are coming out of the woodwork for the occasion. 'Citizen', your threat only serves to illustrate the truth in my previous comment! I did not "cast a slur" on anyone except Mr Hughes, in fact, I sympathise with the way the Gardai can be ordered around by this criminal. If any police officers show up at my house, I will make them a nice cup of tea. Also it's Ms not Mr. 'Former employee', referring to innocent victims as "suspects" is utterly sick and will not fool anyone; and apparently we can add STALKING to Mr Hughes's ever growing list of criminal offenses. The only people who believe that telling the truth is "despicable" are the ones who are GUILTY. I can only wonder just how low someone would have to be to actually seem proud of doing a gangster's dirty work. However, we at least have the consolation that this continuing blight on the community will never get back into the Dail! |

If you are fooled by the charm, you are not alone, but anyone who thinks he is anything but a criminal, a stalker, and physically abusive does not know him. Only had dealings with this solicitor on one occasion. I was new to the town and needed a 'Commissioner of Oaths' to put his stamp on a document. I had no idea how much it cost and only had a large note on me. To my surprise, he roared at me that it would cost £20 (at the time) and he told me to get out and get change and come straight back to him with the £20 if I wanted my document back. I found him to be a money grabbing, arrogant, intimidating man and would never have anything to do with him again. He would give Westport a bad name. |

Please tell us if the crooked State Solicitor from Mayo is made a Judge by our corrupt Fianna Fail government, callers who have information on Seamus Hughes, his links with Fianna Fail, his crooked dealings and contempt for the rule of law. Five calls already from all over north and west Mayo between 11.05am and 11.40pm. The first time I met this thug, he ran across the street from the Court House in Ballina in a charge to intimidate me regarding this internationally renowned website and the unwarranted remarks he Seamus Hughes made about a Westport man's wife, but Hughes got the land of his life when the charge turned to an attack on his corrupt party, Fianna Fail. Hughes was again spotted gaping in wonder like a ghost in a snowstorm at the VLPS group in the Circuit Court in Castlebar on the 14th of July 2009.
