Sheilagh | I had never thought that my previous comment was controversial enough to be objected to by a High Court judge and I do not think his decision was correct in law. Whatever the Court says, I still feel that it was wholly unfair to drag poor Mr Gill's name through the mud, while the real poster of the objectionable remark, the only guilty party in my opinion, was completely ignored in the mad rush to get rid of the double nuisance of the VLPS and this RYS web site at all cost. |

The post of Shane O'Neill with phone no. above is an insult to all the people who have suffered at the hands of the legal profession. Ignore it and carry on fighting. They have tried to silence decent people and they have failed. Don't ring the number, I believe this is an attempt to elicit an angry response just as the remarks posted about Jayne Maguire by her colleague was an attempt to intimidate and silence all of us. | |

Bewildered | Jayne Maguire was my barrister in family law suit... she ask me if I would lie on the stand that it would make my case stronger... My case was a strong case there was no need to lie... Is this legal... Also is it legal for a barrister to go against their client's wishes and cause serious endangerment to a client's welfare... could someone please post some information on what action I can take against this silly woman as she really turned my case into a slanging match and did not work for me but more for my child's dad! He probably had a word in her ear... I would be willing to speak about my experiences of Jayne Maguire publicly if I could be assured she wouldn't take me to court... She is a liar and disgrace to the oath she took! If anyone is able to give me advice on taking action against this poor excuse of a barrister please please please send advice on this page and I will make contact after Xmas... Little divil | To "Bewildered": You can legally say anything about anybody, as long as you can prove that it's true. Maybe you should contact the VLPS (see link at the bottom of this page) and ask them to publish your complete story anonymously on the Crooked Lawyers site. Don't forget that the solicitor who employed Ms Maguire for you is equally responsible for any wrongdoing! |

A. | Only a legal professional could be arrogant enough to think people need a degree to give an informed comment about a lawyer. Do you need a cooking diploma to comment on a meal? Incidentally, Barrister, do you know anything at all about the Maguire V Gill case? You might want to ask yourself why, despite the fact that the case ended over 7 months ago, it has never appeared on the books. Could it be corruption at the highest level of the Irish legal system?? |

David Madden | In my experience of solicitors in Ireland, I can say that each time I have had problems with them. After engaging them, they appear not to realise that they should be working in our best interests. Much of the time, it is the opposite of course. Arrogance, greed, condescending. And these are some of their better points... UK solicitors, on the other hand, I found to be much more upfront and charged a whole lot less too. |

I have ready a written complaint to the Law Society but am unsure about the consequences as per the conveyance process. |

Hope you did, cause with this woman you will lose everything and probably catch everything that is going... her rally bike has been around... and the ring on her finger should have been placed in her nose with a long chain hanging from it to trip her up on her lies... Ms Maguire, you should be ashamed of how you have acted in family law matters... I hope you never have to represent yourself. It's time to put the single life behind you and concentrate on the the facts of marriage and the laws of same... Do have a good think of what damage you have caused with lies and deception... did you think a ring on a finger would change that... OMG is there a law that skips your education or is that called inlaws or something similar??? I'll look it up for you... In the meantime, honour your OATHS!!! |

Student | I have just come across this story Re: Maguire v Gill etc and from what I am reading, it all seems a bit childish and nonsensical. If one really has a gripe with a member of the legal profession, a proper gripe, i.e. one with substance, contact the Law Society or the Bar Council and deal with it in a proper fashion. I do not believe utilising a website to air grievances is going to be of any value, furthermore seeing as it is subject to the laws of the United States (nice move whoever it was) it holds no weight. With respect to those who have had poor representation by their lawyer, it is understandable for you to vent, however, this is not the correct medium I feel, and secondly with repsect to those in the legal profession they have, the vast majority of them, worked hard to get where they are and indeed have expert professional opinion which is of great benefit to those who wish to rely on it. As a result I can understand Jayne Maguire's argument as a lawyer relies on their reputation and one's right to good name (unless there is substantial evidence to the contrary) in order to practice. Ultimately, from what I have seen on this website it is of no value to anyone. |

Dundalk Solicitor | What the student is saying is true, however it is very hard to have any sympathy for this woman when she behaves so immaturely by b*tching about her colleagues and solicitors. Calling them stupid and useless, etc. No wonder very few brief her because when she falls out with the solicitors (which she always does) she becomes obsessed with running them down. I would be sacked by my boss if I briefed her! She didn't like it herself when she was called names... It's a good job nobody listens to her though! |

@ Bewildered | Bewildered - contact a solicitor before you bring a case to the Bar Council of Ireland about her. It being a family law case, there are issues of confidentiality and the in camera rule that need to be considered. You can bring your case under carefully drafted headings though. Ask around Dundalk and you will be sure to find a solicitor who will take your case for you... best of luck! |
