The Church, the lawyers and politicians have always had close links and both have worked closely together to control and manipulate the population to their own advantage.
In 1985 my Uncle Fr. Niall Molloy was kicked to death in a house in Brian Cowen's home town, Clara, Co Offaly. What did Brian Cowen have to say about it???
The local Parish Priest who was the (alleged) first person to be called to the house lied in court under oath and used Canon Law to cover up more of his lies. He was unable to call the emergency services because he said because he had not brought his glasses with him. He never thought of asking the other people in the house to read the directory or dial 999. Cardinal O'Fiaich lied in a letter to a member of my family, he said that he was "only vaguely aware of Niall's death at the time because he was out of the country". He made numerous phone calls to the Gardai within hours of Niall's death asking them to cover it up.
Both of them tried to cover up the truth and within hours of Niall's death influenced members of the Gardai with phone calls. When the Molloy family continued to fight to clear Niall's name, the final insult came from the Catholic Church, they offered us a blank cheque so we could "let the man rest in peace".
The Church threatened us with legal action when we tried to see a Baptismal Cert. that linked the DPP with one of the family in whose house Niall's body was found. Within hours of Niall's death my Uncle Billy (Niall's brother) called to the house where his body was found and was informed by one of the Flynn family that there had been an argument between two politicians and when Niall stepped in to break it up he was attacked. Billy then went to Tullamore Garda and made a statement to the Gardai. This statement never came out in evidence???
Local police told us that there were politicians leaping over hedges to get out of Offaly that night... but then the guys from Dublin arrived and took over the investigation. They had instructions from above and getting a conviction was not high on their list.
We have fought for 25 years to get to the truth. I am still being given the run around by the Garda Ombudsman's Office "you were not treated properly... I will get back to you in the next two weeks"... that was a year ago.
The Garda Cold Case Unit say they may re-open the case at a future date but at the moment they are too busy as they are investigating 200 cases currently. My Uncle's case was one of the most high profile Murder cases in Ireland and at the time attracted huge interest in the national and international media and it is still very much at the bottom of the list.
Believe me, the ruling party would not like the case re-opened even after all these years because some prominent members are relatives of the politician involved. The Irish Catholic Church has been caught with their pants down and are now scrambling to save face over child abuse which will probably take them a long time to recover from... but they are involved in the covering up of an even greater crime, the horrific killing of a totally innocent man, one of their own, a Priest.

Well done for all your efforts. A lot of people would have just given up. So sorry and not surprised to hear about the frustrations. I hope something positive happens for you soon. It would be great if you got some professional help to resolve this.
