Can anyone advise me if it's possible to find a competent and trustworthy solicitor to take a case against another solicitor in Ireland?
I have become extremely wary of trusting any of them and I have several reasons for this which will be disclosed at a later date.
I am prepared to deal with an honest solicitor anywhere in Ireland to take a case against a corrupt solicitor who is trying to cover up her wrongdoing. Any information treated in strict confidence.

Rodger, name the corrupt solicitor and tell the truth about her, and rate her on the Rate Your Solicitor site.
I have been trying to find an honest solicitor in Ireland for the last seven years. There are many difficulties for any member of the Irish legal fraternity who may wish to mount a challenge against any other Irish solicitor. The Law Society are supposed to process complaints against solicitors, but it has been my experience that they do not do their job, and in fact protect solicitors who are known to them as being corrupt, even to the point of being criminals.
I think that the Irish legal system is among the most corrupt legal systems in the world, but this is accepted by most of the Irish people. It is rotten from the very bottom to the very top. Have a look at the history and present position of the Irish Government.
I am surprised that people have not rebelled against these legalised criminals. If I ever find an honest solicitor who would be prepared to take a case against another solicitor, I will post the information and contact details on this site. I will pray for you and for an honest solicitor. I look forward to that day.
Regards, Setanta.

Many Thanks for an honest reply to my post Setanta and after several bad experiences with solicitors in this country, I was beginning to despair and feel that no one gives a damn. But for the fact that most people now have internet and the fact that now at least there is a forum to allow people like me have a voice, then I can only imagine the despair and stress our forefathers went through in the past in this country with crooked lawyers, or is it only in the last few years these legalised crooks have appeared on Irish soil--although I doubt that as well.
Briefly, my experiences with corrupt solicitors would be as follows:
A solicitor from Leitrim who had me pay over 7 grand stamp duty on a business I bought in 1994 but when I went to sell it 4 years later I found that the money had been sitting in his account all that time and was never passed on to the Revenue.
A solicitor from Sligo who is a fascist and a bully in the extreme and treats clients like they are a piece of dirt on his shoe. He threatened and bullied myself and my wife during a case in the high court and would not allow us to go to the judge for a decision but even though we won our case, we but accepted a much lower settlement from an insurance company than we should have done due to his bullying and holier-than-thou arrogance. We found out afterwards that his claims for costs for the case was over 80 grand in 1997. My wife had cancer at the time but he had no interest in any of that. Not only that but he insisted on taking about 7 thousand from our money as he claimed he was owed party to party costs, even though he had claimed that huge figure of 80 grand as well. His wife got 19 million in a well highlighted divorce case some years later and I was so happy for her as she happens to also be my wife's doctor.
A solicitor I was dealing with until recently. I have power of attorney for my brother in law - I will call him "Honest Patrick" who is sick and unable to deal with his affairs and who was in business with a crooked sibling in the family as partners in a building company. This lady solicitor was supposed to be handling their affairs but in reality was much closer to the crooked member of the family and ignored my law abiding brother in law who had in fact started the company with over three hundred and eighty grand of his own money that he earned in England. Unfortunately for himself he came back to the Emerald Isle of saints and scholars and crooks and invested it all with a very welcoming but devious partner who happened to be a younger brother, "Crooked Thomas" and who has now laid claim to practically everything even though he has never been able to prove that he invested a single cent in the partnership.
The solicitor - we will call her Mary Jones of Castlerea, Roscommon - has lied constantly on behalf of Crooked Thomas who appears to be her bright and blue-eyed boy these days and even though she claims to not represent either brother at the moment, we have evidence to prove otherwise. She has refused to hand over Honest Patrick's file even though there is no money owed by him to her firm. We have evidence that documents were altered and signatures were falsified but she keeps lying through her teeth to cover up her dealings with Crooked Thomas.
We employed a new solicitor in Galway but he has since passed away and the case is being handled by another lady who has taken his place and we will call her Jennifer. The jury is out so far and I will update here as much as possible but to be honest, she has not impressed us so far and indeed any advances that have been made in the case have all been as a result of pushing her to act. This is an awful situation as the crooked brother is creating havoc with what's left of the business and going around doing dodgy deals and feathering his own nest as fast as he can. Jennifer has not even sent him a warning letter to desist and has to be begged to act or do something. She will then give it plenty of lip service but that's about it. She seems reluctant to act against her colleague Mary Jones in Castlerea or demand that the original file be sent to her and keeps accepting photocopies of photocopies and it seems to me that Irish solicitors are hand in hand when it comes to making a just decision or acting fully in the client's interests.
