Think I was first in there making a comment on Brendan. At the time I felt very frightened and alone. Amazed to read all your problems with this practice. He threatened me with the Law Society but I ignored him on advice of a new really good solicitor. He ranted and raved in his emails - bad spelling, bad grammar and legally incorrect. He gave up eventually. I was prepared to meet him in court but it never happened. The bully finally gave up. To those of you hurting, take courage and get a second opinion. In response to Michael Maher - I am a practicing solicitor and I can tell you that the majority of solicitors do not seriously recognise this website. If you have a problem you should (1) speak to your solicitor in relation to your grievances, or (2) make a formal complaint to the Law Society.
The Law Society is the regulatory body for Solicitors and we are properly regulated. We are as regulated as we can be given our professional positions - we do need a certain amount of leeway to carry out our jobs (i.e. providing undertakings to banks, etc.), however, I can assure you that we are monitored by the Law Society and are subject to audits and inspections similar to other businesses.
Unfortunately there are a few in our profession who have given the rest of us a bad name but the majority of solicitors are honest, hardworking persons just like any other profession.

I have had no dealings with this man, but I write here in reply to Paul Scott who said this site should be stopped. The solicitors in this country have the power to stop this site. If they ensured their own organisation properly regulated solicitors, this site would not exist. If they properly regulated solicitors and had a website site to read and research solicitors, then this site would probably cease to be. I suspect the honest solicitors out there are quite happy to see this site thrive, as it allows good solicitors to get even more business. Shame on the majority of solicitors who continue to fail to provide proper regulation. I have a problem with many solicitors and Brian Lenihan and Dermot Ahern who failed and continue to fail to ensure solicitors are held to account. Agree with sympathetic response to Joanne and would like to offer my condonances. The "not a bad man" comment is subject to debate though. He is a lawyer for over 30 years and that is what he does. He is not judge and jury and this raises an interesting question. When you employ him he gives everything to the case and that is to be respected. The question is does he go too far?, being battle hardened his idea of too far is most likely different to our idea. You go to court for LAW not JUSTICE and a lawyer knows this very well indeed. A lawyer is bound to represent his client to the very best of his ability, remember he is not the judge. I personaly believe that there is a point that he crosses and that is, he is prepared to perform a fraud on the court. Its time to grow up folks, the courts care less if he is battering you, however its when he abuses the court process they wake up and that day is comming in next few months as I have proof in barrow loads and it will be interesting to see how they deal with him. luck to all, and you will need lots of it when dealing with this tramp. |

Ever notice people seem to be more willing to write the bad rather then the good? This man may be expensive but in my dealings with solicitors , they mostly are (he was quite reasonable in comparsion). Recently, my family have been struck badly by this recession and was unable to pay certain bills, once i explained this to Muldowney , he made certain allowances and we made a more agreeable arrangement. It would seem to me if you are reasonable to him, he will be reasonable to you.
Some of you may feel cheated but to place all the blame on the solicitor is unnecessary when they are just doing their job (whether you think it is nasty tactics or not , it is just business and such not be manifested in personal attacks against the man). Legal battles are a messy business and those of you should be prepared for that before you take legal proceedings. If you are unhappy with a certain solicitor then you should change your representation before it is too late rather than critque at a later stage. |

I just found this site and until now thought i was on my own.
Hopefully he will someday be shown up for what he really is, a crook. The men and women that made the law over the years did not do so for him to exploit in the way he does. Many professions develop bad practices and are called to order. The same is/has happened with solicitors and I think they have reached rock bottom and it is men like Muldowney that have taken them to such a low level.
Have faith, the profession know that they are wrongly all tarred with the same brush and many are waiting for some judge to expose a few and restore a level of confidence in the law. Muldowney has by his own actions marked himself for out. No one will be sorry and he can only blame himself. It will happen, it is the natural order of things. |

Mr. Muldowney is a corrupt man. He at present is taking direct advantage of a person whom I have the pleasure of knowing and whom by the law of the land of Ireland has not been in a fit position to enter into any legal dealings for a number of years. He is currently putting this person under a constant state of duress and implying to this person FALSE facts in order to get this person to sign legal documents. He is draining this persons finances to "feather his own nest". He is operating outside of his jurisdiction, he is making a mock of Irish law and he is disgracing and undermining the legal profession. His sheer ignorance and arrogance is utterly unbelievable. Who does he think he is?? This man and his practice should be avoided at all possible costs, he brings no good.

It is quite possible you got good service and you are lucky but the vast majority of people have a very bad experience of Muldowney, myself included. The cowardly anonymous complainant of the 30th March and the 14th of April is obviously feeling aggrieved as he prevented my mother from being declared of unsound mind and stood up to a member of my family who endeavoured to make her so and when these bullying tactics did not succeed the rat always squeals. They can do so until the cows come home but it wont change the fact that Mr. Muldowney stood up to the establishment with tremendous integrity and professionalism and I have no doubt he will succeed in doing so. Some members of the family think they can exploit their vulnerable relatives with impunity but alas there is always a day of reckoning. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and he has charged no fee to date despite request for same. One of the most serious and honest Solicitors in Ireland. If you ever have a problem which you think is insurmountable consult him and actions will speak for themselves and I can guarantee that. |
