24th of Dec, 2007 Concerned citizen I am convinced that the whole legal system here is corrupt from the top down. Why else would the Law Society want to protect professional thieves like Mr Kilraine? Just as the clergy were exposed with their can of worms, the legal profession in this country is heading for a big fall. It needs a total reform with an independent authority to manage and discipline the crooks like Kilraine. Without a body that has the real power to sanction there will be no confidence for the public. Money, position and power clearly buys you immunity from the law... for now anyway!

Mr Kilraine has a national profile in relation to his incompetence in his job. I know him personally and he can be quite charming but as a solicitor he cannot be recommended. Bet you have never used him as a solicitor, so why do you keep defending him?

I'm certain that the majority of Irish solicitors welcome it with open arms, they have absolutely nothing to fear from it, in fact it enhances their standing. On the other hand, overcharging wiseguys like Kilraine have so much to fear from it, it puts the spotlight on their activities and alerts the public to them.

Hope his ability to represent clients has also improved but I doubt it. Do not invest your hard earned money in this so called practice.

14th of Sep, 2007 Athenry Avenger Let my mother down in a conveyancing deal while she was ill in hospital. Would not return the poor woman's calls. A disgrace to the legal profession. I would like to compliment this site in bringing out all the reality of the solicitors in the Hall of Shame. Maybe a book could be made so we have full coverage of the solicitors in the Hall of Shame and to be fair and balanced a record of all said in the site of solicitors in the Hall of Fame. 24th of Dec, 2007 Concerned Oranmore Solicitor Extremely devious and self serving. It escapes me how he is allowed get away with making children "currency" in legal disputes. He is absolutely without a sense of common decency. His best course of action would be to retire from the law permanently and reflect on his abominations... if he took up good voluntary work he might see the light to human goodness. The road to Damascus is a road he definitely needs to take. A complete and utter embarrassment to the profession. I am not surprised to see his name here.
28th of Sep, 2007 Bob the Builder Used him on a housing estate once. Messed up two of the conveyancing transactions as well as messing up a back garden on the house. Would never use him again not even if it was as a labourer on site. Best left alone in the pub.
27th of Nov, 2007 The Monk of Salthill A very poor solicitor indeed, a sad addition to law, in fact he brings the whole thing to a new all time low. We at our small monastery received such a huge bill from him in legal fees for our charity to build a school in India that we cannot afford to heat the church this Christmas. Two of the older monks are in a bad way indeed but they offer the hypothermia up to God. We forgive Mr Kilraine and he is in our prayers on a daily basis.

In all legal cases there are winners and losers and I think the majority of the losers are commenting on this site. Who cares if he is a fool, or what he gets himself into, so long as he can do what you need him to do. As for the name and shame, come on, none of you people are going to start listing this so-called "mafia", none of you have the balls to name yourselves never mind anyone else.

He is a headcase of very, very limited intellectual capacity. He just about qualified and only with the financial influence of his family. The answer my friend is NO. Does a so called very good solicitor go into the office at 3.00 in the day or go in at all, ring his office before noon and he will not be in guaranteed, infact he might not go in at all!!Makes one wonder where the almighty kilraine gets his business. Any person with half a brain would have the cop on to stay with from the office. He was rude, ignorant and often refused to answer my calls. I've taken this to the law society. It's incredible how little regulation there is with lawyers.

One of his great successes was in having our fellow commentator "Dr Ryan" (14th September) released from charges relating to import and abuse of young gibbons from Indonesia. Shame on you Dr. Ryan! You were let off thanks to John's wizardry and now you come flaunting yourself as some type of commentator. Piccolo mondo for you, my molesting doctor!

He helped me in many disputes - I had sexual harassment by my ex-employer AND a property problem. In this town most of the other solicitors I met are sad and clueless. In my country (Ukraine) they would never get into law school. John is exceptional. A lawyer for a thinking woman!

Firstly, the gibbons were saved from a zoo where they were underfed, Mr Kilraine and I at our own expense in the Indonesian court got them to a new home in Dublin Zoo. We both have a interest in saving gibbons around the world. God bless you for making our plight public, our deeds were to be altruistic, I did not expect publicity in relation to said deeds.

8th of Jun, 2007 hurt girl Galway Advertiser - City solicitor's birthday marred by court appearance: A solicitor appeared before Galway District Civil and Juvenile Court last Thursday on his 41st birthday, charged with a number of Public Order offences. John Kilraine, 11 Clybaun Court, Knocknacarra, Galway, is charged with resisting and obstructing Garda Paddy Foley in the execution of his duty at Halo night-club, Abbeygate Street, Galway, on December 9 last year. He is further charged with being intoxicated, breaching the peace and with failing to provide Garda Foley with his name and address on the same occasion. The accused also faces a charge of damaging a cell door at Galway Garda Station in relation to the same incident. Defence solicitor, John Geraghty, said his client would be pleading to the charges. When the case first came before the court earlier this year, Judge Aeneus McCarthy had said he was acquainted with the accused and excused himself from dealing with it. In court last week, Judge Mary Fahy said she would note a plea to all charges and she adjourned the matter to July 25 next for hearing.

Balance seems a saner and more appropriate response than being smugly judgmental. The question is, does it matter that some people's avid following of this story undoubtedly feeds a fundamentally unwholesome and voyeuristic hunger and a strange sort of craving for the gory detail? Not really, no. The point, surely, is that justice was done, unpaid tax and severe penalties were paid in full. On countless occasions he had not sent through relevent details to the bank in order to get stage payments down resulting in them being delayed and builder not getting paid on time, then found out after nearly three years he'd never sent deeds through to the Land Registry due to an 'administration error'!! He is never in the office before 3pm and always tells his secretary to inform clients he is in court. The only time he is in court is for his own criminal offences, really Mr Kilraine, the clients know better. Come home to Oranmore where all your old friends know you. By the way, I believe the Galway mafia own a local lap dancing club but I am open to correction on this.

Your lawyer may be a fishing buddy with the judge, and the plaintiff's lawyer. At a minimum, there's a solidarity amongst lawyers. Your lawyer doesn't care about you, just your money. Your lawyer is expected by rules of the legal profession to swear his first allegiance TO THE SYSTEM, and not you. He is required to work with the judge and the other lawyer as first priority. So if you're in a legal settlement situation, your lawyer may bluff you, trying to intimidate and scare you, as a means to reach a settlement with the other party. Even though your lawyer knows it's a bluff, he won't tell you. Instead, he'll scare you half to death, and many people have no doubt committed suicide in the PROCESS that lawyers put people through. Is it any wonder that Jesus stated in Luke 11:46... "Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne..." 14th of Oct, 2007 Galway Advertiser City solicitor's birthday marred by court appearance - A solicitor appeared before Galway District Civil and Juvenile Court last Thursday on his 41st birthday, charged with a number of Public Order offences. John Kilraine, 11 Clybaun Court, Knocknacarra, Galway, is charged with resisting and obstructing Garda Paddy Foley in the execution of his duty at Halo night-club, Abbeygate Street, Galway, on December 9 last year. He is further charged with being intoxicated, breaching the peace and with failing to provide Garda Foley with his name and address on the same occasion. The accused also faces a charge of damaging a cell door at Galway Garda Station in relation to the same incident. Defence solicitor, John Geraghty said his client would be pleading to the charges. When the case first came before the court earlier this year, Judge Aeneus McCarthy had said he was acquainted with the accused and excused himself from dealing with it. In court last week, Judge Mary Fahy said she would note a plea to all charges and she adjourned the matter to July 25 next for hearing.

31st of Jan, 2008 Oloungoba Bubu CROOK! This guy is unbelievable. I used him 2 years ago to buy my apartment. I would gladly pay 10 times what I paid Kilraine to get back all the sleepless nights. I stopped counting after 5 unreturned phonecalls (in 3 days) and eventually told the girl on the other end of the phone (one of many I dealt with during the period) that if he didn't ring me back immediately that I would ring every 10 minutes and tie up his phone line. It was only then that he rang back. I eventually started following up every phone call and discussion with an email (in the event of a court case...). The worst thing was that when I got my deposit back (I got a 100% mortgage from the bank) he automatically deducted his fee (plus EUR 90 for photocopying and stationary) and the stamp duty. However he had deducted stamp duty on the total purchase price and did not deduct the agreed amount for fixtures and fittings of EUR 5k. That amounted to stamp duty of EUR 187.50. I know from my own job that in the unlikely event that he did not know that fixtures and fittings are not stampable, the Revenue Commissioners would have picked up on that and would have refunded that amount to him. It is my opinion that had I not demanded my EUR 187.50 back from him that it would have been highly unlikely that he would have returned that money to me. It makes you wonder how many times he has made that "mistake".

Is all nice to your face, then as soon as he leaves your company, he slates you, calls you every ignorant name under the sun. He is only a part time solicitor in my eyes and not a very good one. He is never in the office before 3.00 if even then, he may not go in at all. Made a fool out of me too many times. Would be as well of if he closed down his practice, and does what he does best... drink... Fact!! Avoid him please for your own sake, he will rip you off and leave you waiting for weeks and weeks to do your work. You have to keep on chasing him, otherwise he has your money for nothing and he knows it too!!!
29th of Jan, 2008 Ally McBeal Where to start, I only found out about this website today but such was my rage over the sheer incompetence of the service I received back in November 2004, I almost started up a website devoted to him alone. Simply put he was arrogant to the extreme and through total neglect cost us the home we were purchasing. Trying to contact him by phone was like obtaining an interview with the Pope and the secretary of the day would routinely lie just to get you off the phone. When we went to the Law Society and detailed in writing the catalogue of mistakes he made and when I say catalogue we're talking Argos worthy here, he could not come back on one single point raised and decided instead to fabricate preposterous claims including conversations that never happened. In the end he wouldn't hand back documents until he had been paid for the "work" that had been done which led to no house being sold or bought. The Law Society in the end rewarded us a refund of just under 200 euro but if they want to be taken seriously they need to start handing out stiffer penalties, at the time a jail term felt about right. As a female client I found Mr Kilraine impossible to deal with.

I was buying a house on my own last year and the stress he caused me by not answering phone calls, never showing up for appointments, delaying the whole process and charging ME for phonecalls, photocopying etc... Thanks to my own work and a lot of help from the complaints people at the law society I am now back to the point I was with my case two years ago. John has been a absloute disaster to deal with from start to finish. Still, I like to think I am a bit wiser for the experience. You may be interested to know that whilst John can no longer practice as a solicitor without guidance, he is apparently studying for the bar.

The Law Society must have finally woken up and saw sense to strike him off and not a moment too soon either. He has no one to blame but himself for all of his wrongdoing, and maybe if he actually did his job and did it well because he is able to do it well when he wants to, it would not have come to such drastic measures as to getting himself struck off, after God knows how many years practicing in this profession. Every time he would see a lawyer walking along the street, he would swerve to hit him. After hearing a loud "THUD," he would swerve back on the road. One day, as the truck driver was driving along he saw a priest hitchhiking. He stopped and asked the priest, "Where are you going, Father?" This site must just not be about Comment, it should also be about Action. Pressure should be put on the Law Society by every client who has obviously had grave difficulty with solicitors like this. Solicitors like this will continue in a professional capacity unless something much more concrete is done to ensure that this level of incompetance is removed totally from the Legal Profession. 7th of Mar, 2008 The Boil of Barna We purchased our house five years ago and when we went to sell a site earlier this year and needed our paperwork including the deeds it arose that he had never registered the property in our name and now three four months on he still has not done it won't take our calls and when we complained about him to the Law Society and I rang him to organise a meeting to discuss in person the whole issue he told me I could not have a meeting until I withdrew the complaint. This man still has no intention of sorting out our paperwork, he even told us that he doesn't need our signature on the deeds to register them - I can't see how this is even correct. Take my advice and stay well clear of him as he never finishes the job.

About time that you made a donation to charity for the amount of times you have held onto clients funds for large amounts you were supposed to lodge into their accounts... have you delcared to the Revenue the large amounts of interest you earn because of holding onto these funds while clients sweat it out and have to chase you for the funds from the sale of their property... you're a robber Kilraine and you know it. It's only a matter of time... Office for sale / rent in Nile Lodge. Your just reward. Good will win out eventually and you'll get found out. Over a six month period of unfortunate dealings with Kilraine I must have encountered about 9 different secretaries. On one occasion while sitting waiting to see Kilraine I heard one poor girl begging over the phone for her wages... funny she was gone on my next visit, I wonder why??

Thats fine!! I rang again today and SURPRISE, SURPRISE he was not in!!!! On the piss up in Dublin, he was staying in the Dylan Hotel, in the plush Dublin 4 area!! Then he has the oddesity to tell me he does not have any money. It costs 200 euros a night to stay there. People avoid his office like the plague the only thing that comes first in his life is his biggest love....DRINK!!! He will probably stay up there again tomorrow night too. I had the misfortune to use this cowboy for a property purchase back in 2004 and recently attempted to redeem the mortgage, only to learn that Mr Kilraine had not completed the title, but had demanded payment up front before drawing down the money for the Vendor. Needless to say I sacked him on the spot and withdrew all my affairs from him. This problem should never have arisen. Obviously, this guy is totally incompetent and is only out to get paid overpaid. When I reported it to the Law Society they did not want to know and judging by the comments on this website, they are not too interested in reprimanding him. This guy should be struck off without further consideration. He is dishonest, arrogant, untrustworthy, a liar, an alcoholic, dangerous, uneducated and stupid. He is a laughing stock among the legal community. He spends most of his time either in the local lapdancing club, drunk or in the psychiatric unit in University Hospital Galway suffering from depression. The guy should not be allowed in the public domain in any form. I applaud some of the comments on this website. The rest are obviously some of Kilraine's cronies. I received only 50% of my fees back. My father came with me for the last few meetings to kilraines's office. 14th of Mar, 2008 kilraine One of my worst nightmares became a reality this week. I had been preparing a matter for a district trial over the past six months. I had briefed experienced Counsel to deal with the trial. My Client had met the barrister a number of times and was very happy with their service. Everything was looking well prepared and ready for trial. I got out of my bed and started getting myself ready on the first day of the trial when I received a telephone call from the barrister's clerk. I knew that something would be wrong if I was receiving a call this early in the morning. I was told that the barrister had been injured in an accident and that they were unable to attend Court due to the extent of their injuries. I then said the words, "What are we going to do then?" The clerk said, "I don't know, what do you want to do?" I thought for a short while and then said, "Don't worry, leave it to me". The case was not the kind of matter where a new barrister could read the papers and be up to speed within a few hours. There was no point trying to get a new barrister to the Court to deal with the matter. I took the matter in to my own hands and traveled to the Court knowing that there would not be a barrister to represent the interests of my Client. On my arrival at Court I spoke with the Clerk who was kind enough to seek the permission of the trial Judge who granted me rights of audience to appear in the Court and represent my Client. At no stage did I ever think that I should step in the breach and take the case on by actually doing the trial - my point of view was that provided the Judge would give me rights of audience I could then make an application to adjourn the trial in order to arrange new Counsel, allow time for new Counsel to prepare for the matter, and then have a conference with my Client and his new Counsel. All went well in Court and my trial was adjourned despite the Prosecution barrister being a pedant suggesting that my Client's case could start in the afternoon with a new barrister! I quite enjoyed the experience of exchanging blows with the Prosecution barrister during the course of my application as he had been particularly difficult in pre-trial hearings regarding disclosure. Once the case had been adjourned I let out a sigh of relief. The nightmare scenario that I had thought about on many occasions had been simple enough to solve. I have now made a mental note that I really should pull my finger out and put the finishing touches to my solicitor advocates portfolio so that I can actually obtain rights of audience to appear in the Court to deal with hearings such as mentions, plea and case management hearings, and trials. you see how busy i am fellow blogs
17th of Apr, 2008 EM It was a black day that I walked into this man's office 18 months ago. John actually did some work on my personal injury case for about a week so I was gulled into thinking that useful things might be happening. It wasn't until six months had passed and numerous phone calls not returned, promises not kept and deadlines not met that I began to worry. Since that time I have had to change solicitors in an attempt to move my case forward. Another eight months have passed and John has yet to respond to my new, and competent, solicitor’s repeated requests for my file, or indeed communicate with anyone. Latterly, although I know it will probably do no good at all, I have written and complained to the law society about what I feel to be inadequate professional services provided by John Kilraine. I could go into some detail about the man’s incompetence but even thinking about the whole mess I can feel my energy draining way. Avoid please, for your own sanity.

How in any developed country can such a body as the Law Society tolerate such incompetence and malpractice by its members for years on end. Mr. Kilraine got away with so much because of a faceless, self admiring society who have lost all credibility in this country. It has been known for years that it is a waste of time complaining to them about members. The only time they seem to strike off a solicitor is when the banks themselves come down on the solicitor in question. When the banks have difficulty with a solicitor's finances, they seem to be able to have no difficulty in getting the Law Society to strike a solicitor off. They seem to have a club of their own and woe betide a rogue solicitor who crosses the banks in Ireland. The privileges extended to members of the legal profession by the banks is amazing. They are mutual beneficiaries financially and serve each other well. Property sales, mortgages, probate, funds, the list goes on. The banks look after the legal profession and the legal profession banks with them. Anyone that thinks their complaint to the Law Society is worthwhile is sadly naive. Repeated calls for reform of the Law Society and having an independent body have been strongly resisted by the Law Society. What the answer is, I don't know. Personally, I loathe the Law Society for its bias and its treatment of the general public in relation to complaints.

18th of Apr, 2008 Red Alert I am in the middle of purchasing a house, and unfortunately this fecking solicitor is doing it for me. Rang the office a couple of weeks ago only to be told by his secretary that he was not in, although she was expecting in. Why is he a solicitor at all, I have been told many times to take my file else where, but it is almost finished. One thing I will be doing though is taking my file when this is done, if it ever gets done. He is not capable of going into the office to work, let alone to lift the phone to return his clients calls. The sooner John Kilraine goes out of business it will be a better place. The man is nothing but an ignorant, lying, coniving, dangerous, alcoholic, bad minded, selfish, foul mouthed biggest bastard i have ever met. He is ignorant, foul mouthed, incompetent, crooked and ended up charging me at least 4 times his inital estimate for conveyancy. The Law Society should strike this guy off immediately. 11th of Jul, 2008 Edna Believe it or not, there was actully a piece about him being struck off in the Sentinel. I myself did not see it but it was mentioned to me! The only people I feel sorry for are his family, how can they look people in the eye knowing what their son is after doing? I wonder does the famous solicitor feel one bit of remorse for his wrongdoing?? More than likely not, he is the most cold-hearted, crude, obnoxious, self-centred person I have ever met. Had the unfortunate experience of having one too many dealings with him. I ended up coming out the worse for wear of it, I might as well have ripped off my arms and given them to him as he practically took everything else from me. I am glad to see that he has been struck off, so glad. I think I may even go out tonight and get hammered just celebrating the very fact that he is gone, and may he never come back to practice in any shape or form ever again!! All good things come to an end and it finally did for John, a few years too late I might say, but it was worth it in the end to see him go down without a hope in hell of ever re-surfacing again. Let us all hope and pray that this is the end of Kilraine in every way.

He is incapable of handling the workload he has and blames any mistakes he makes on others. I advise everyone to stay well clear of him, how he became a solicitor is beyond me.

I have come upon this site and others of a similar nature internationally. Compared with the content of views on similar sites around the world it looks to me that the posters here are the same 3-4 people (language / nuance /syntax?) not just here but with all the members of the 'hall of shame'. It is somewhat disappointing. Richard Hegarty, Chair of the Law Society's Compliance Board, Senior Administrator Solicitor of Hegarty & Co. with offices in Dublin, while carrying out 'Law Society business' (so I'm told) accessed information from the Internet about me to use so he could on behalf of the Law Society telephone me during the evening and try to 'intimidate' me with threats. Not only that but the Law Society's Consumers Complaints Service and Zahida Manzoor, the Legal Services Ombudsman, say this is all correct and within the rules for members of the Law Society to act towards clients and complainants.

Your Client told me that her Barrister told her that the Judge had ordered negotiation. WHY after all this time did you want to "negotiate"? The Children were abducted from their home on December 28th 2002 and were used as a political football / weapons in the Circuit Court (JUDGES DUPED) and here we are on November 15th 2005 AND YOU THEN WANT TO NEGOTIATE! I WAS RAILROADED INTO NEGOTIATION BY MY SOLICITOR! He knew that I was going to tear ye apart in the High Court! He knew that I was going to expose the PERJURY of Deirdre Taylor Psychologist (his associate also): "I received no information about the Psychiatric Histories of either parent" - agreed in writing by my Barrister 12th October 2006! When in FACT I gave your Psychologist information on your Clients Psychiatric History in WRITING on TWO OCCASIONS (PROVABLE)and told her VERBALLY on at least TWO OCCASIONS. He knew that I was going to COMPLAIN about BOTH SOLICITORS PRACTICES to the Judge for what was done to THREE INNOCENT CHILDREN IN THE COURTS (and how he, an associate of the Senior Child Care Worker, had withheld all of my Child Abusive evidence from the Courts). He knew that I could prove PERJURY by your client on at least 3 occasions (in writing!) There were two Professional Reports conducted, one by a Psychologist, one by a Psychiatrist. In each my son's number one wish was to "live with my Dad"- the CHILD DID NOT GET ANY HEARING IN ANY COURT CASE because the Psychiatric Reports were never let into Court because of "NEGOTIATION". On 9th February 2003 I gave my ex wife a bunch of flowers which she was delighted with. I asked her in the BEST INTERESTS OF CHILD WELFARE to consider mediated settlement (all my medical friends agreed with my approach). She stroked me on the nose and told me she'd think about it. Then she came in contact with you. You wrote a letter telling me of my inappropriate behaviour - CHILD WELFARE! Back into Court!! Why did you stop the mediation in February 2003 (Judge Mangan: "From what I can see there is very little between you" (the issues are very small) Had she negotiated in 2003, the SENIOR CHILD CARE WORKER who assisted her with the abduction would have seriously been exposed for BAD JUDGEMENT and HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE (according to two Psychiatrists!) involvement in the unjustified taking of my Children from their home AGAINST THEIR WISHES, and with fraudulent Child Abusive Writings (Child Abuse!).

Not only does he never return calls and lie, but his treatment of both his now ex staff and clients is deplorable. I nearly lost my house on the most straightforward of transactions employing his services. Thankfully I saw sense and left him before it was too late. I have no doubt there are others who have not been as fortunate as I. How this firm can charge any fee let alone the exorbitant fees they tried to charge me is pure madness.He is pompous, arrogant, technically feeble and self serving. Stay well clear.

Read this site befor you have any intention of going to this office, and take note of all of the avoids against him if this does not open your eyes i do not know what will?!! Kilraine is a very dangerous man to deal with, have been let down on many occassions and told many many lies, as to where abouts by his sercetary/secretaries how many has he gone through in the last 10mths? Any time i ring it is neary a different one i get every time. Maybe they are sick and tired of having to make up lies and excuses for him not being in the office, or if he even goes into the office at all. The usual line is "he is on another call, out of the office, or with a client"!! Makes one wonder doesnt it. If you want to see him closed down or go bankrupt then stay well clear of him and his dishonest office. It is only a matter of time before the law society comes rolling in to shut him down. Sit back and enjoy the ride when it happens. The only question i have to ask is how long to wait???

What I will thank him for is making a naive first time buyer so much wiser second time round that no one was going to pull the wool over my eyes a second time! 24th of May, 2009 Treating customers with contempt Treating customers with contempt will drive them shopping in neighbouring towns It is suicidal to treat customers with contempt, moreover in the current climate. And all traders in the locality lose out. not just the offending business. I think the towns people should unite and bear pressure on these firms to answer the basic questions put to them. Otherwise shoppers will draw their own conclusions, and spend their money elesewhere, and rightfully so if they are treated with contempt. Retailers are suffering enough already, without actually sending the public elsewhere. It is only the few cronies after all that are causing everyone trouble, and it is the same in every town. I also believe that the Industrial School revelations, and what the same lack of accountability gave rise to, is fresh in people’s minds. So we should act before the situation deteriorates even further. Maybe it is that solicitors don't have to worry as they made so much in the boom, but the rest of us have still to make a living, and competition is increasing all the time, unlike solicitors who have a monopoly.

He did not pay stamp duty to the tax people and failed to lodge change of ownership of my house with the Land Registry office. We now have to go through new solicitors to sort the mess out, not able to sell this house til it is registered to me. He is a waste of space.

16th of Mar, 2010 Judge Dredd Takes incompetence to an all new level. Lost our deposit cheque and then sent the replacement cheque to the Land Registry instead of the vendor. NEVER returned our calls or emails. Nearly lost us the house through his inaction. I heard he is gone alright but does anyone know where he is ? Is he still in galway or is he rotting away in his mothers house on taylors hill having his dinners cooked.

19th of May, 2010 daily mail may 2010 The scandal emerged as a senior judge imposed an order for supervision on solicitor John Kilraine, of Taylors Hill, Galway, who was found guilty of 13 counts of professional misconduct. He failed to prepare capital gains tax returns for two clients after having been paid for doing the work. Rougue solicitor was found flouting the law when appeared in court last week. It emerged he had been struck off and exposed himself while drunk in a local pub in front of a group of US citizens. He also failed to adequately respond to 10 letters sent by the Law Society, and failed to attend Law Society meetings, the court heard.Judge Johnson agreed to place Mr Kilraine under a supervision order. ROGUE lawyers are violating court orders banning them from practising without supervision, the Irish Mail on Sunday can reveal. The Law Society has complained to the president of the High Court, Mr Justice Richard Johnson, that some supervisors are not monitoring the lawyers in their charge, but simply 'popping' in every few months. In other cases, solicitors are being 'supervised' by members of their own families. The solicitors' ruling body is now requesting a change in the way supervision orders work so as to ensure proper checks are carried out. Under the system, lawyers who are found guilty of misconduct are given a chance to avoid being struck off

Remake of the Feild City solicitor's birthday marred by court appearance A solicitor appeared before Galway District Civil and Juvenile Court last Thursday on his 41st birthday, charged with a number of Public Order offences. John Kilraine, 11 Clybaun Court, Knocknacarra, Galway, is charged with resisting and obstructing Garda Paddy Foley in the execution of his duty at Halo night-club, Abbeygate Street, Galway, on December 9 last year. He is further charged with being intoxicated, breaching the peace and with failing to provide Garda Foley with his name and address on the same occasion. The accused also faces a charge of damaging a cell door at Galway Garda Station in relation to the same incident. Defence solicitor, John Geraghty, said his client would be pleading to the charges. When the case first came before the court earlier this year, Judge Aeneus McCarthy had said he was acquainted with the accused and excused himself from dealing with it. In court last week, Judge Mary Fahy said she would note a plea to all charges and she adjourned the matter to July 25 next for hearing.

I thought i was the only one who thought he rude, obnoxious, arrogant and most of all couldn't do the tasks required of him correctly if they slapped him in the face. I'm surprised his ego can fit into the cluttered office.

8th of Aug, 2010 confident client John has managed to get excellent results, a most nuanced approach in open court that makes me feel he will excell as a barrister. I feel tha the many competing demands of all that a principal of a law office entails distracteed John from his clarion call call to be a defender of the defenceless and all of his worthy projects. Am sure he is determined to to do work in this area once King's Inns admits him as a junior counsel.
